The state-owned institution of culture The Kirov regional philharmonic society is one of the principal cultural institutions not only of the city of Kirov and the oblast but also of the Volgo-Vyatka and the Urals regions. The philharmonic society's goals are the preservation of traditions in the musical culture, educating and upbringing of the youth, preservation and augmenting of the society's cultural wealth, cultivation of world and national musical-cultural views upon music, theatre and other forms of art, conducting entertainment shows.

Activities of the regional philharmonic society are chamber orchestra music, Russian folk music, modern ballet choreography.
