The dynamics of the oblast's foreign trade turnover, the oblast's major international trade partners
On the territory of the Kirov oblast the foreign-economic activity iserformed by more than 400 economic entities, of which around 300 are legal entities and around 100 are natural persons.
More than 80 countries are the oblast's trade partners, more than a half of which are bilateral co-operation parners.
The main trade partners are foreign countries. Thei share in the region's foreign-trade turnover is around 80% (export 85%, import aroind 75%).
The oblast's major trade partners: in exports: China, Great Britain, Italy, Kazakhstan, the Ukraine,Egypt, Brazil, the USA, Finland, Germany

in imports – Italy, the Ukraine, Germany, Mongolia, Serbia and Montenegro, France, Belgium, Kazakhstan, China, Poland.

Traditionally the oblast's major exports are products of the petrochemical industry (mineral fertilizers, tires, etc.) and the timber industry (timber, sawed timber, fiberboards, wood chipboards, veneer, wooden furniture.
The oblast imports machine-building products (equipment and spare-parts) more than 50%, petrochemicals around 14%, iron-and steel and non-ferrous metals products around 10%.
The Kirov oblast's foreign-trade turnover is noted for its constant growth and positive trade balance.

The following goods make up the export structure: fertilizers – 39%, wood and wood products – 26.4%, inorganic chemical products - 9.8%, plastics – 7.3% furniture, the bedding – 6.8%

Import structure: equipment and mechanical devices – 66.2%, plastics - 4.1%, copper and goods made of it – 3.6%, vehicles – 3.6%, optical instruments and devices – 3.6%, electric machinery and equipment – 3.3%.

The foreign-trade turnover from the Kirov oblast's trade with the CIS states is around 20% of the region's foreign-trade turnover and is noted for its positive balance and constant growth due to both the import and the export.
The following goods are exported into the CIS states: rubber and rubber resin goods - 17%, wood and wooden products – 15%, copper and goods made of it – 10%, electric machinery – 9%, equipment and mechanical devices – 8%, footwear – 5%, arms and ammunition – 4%, iron-and-steel products – 4%, optical instruments and devices – 3.5%.
The following goods are imported: equipment and mechanical devices – 40%, electric machinery - 25%, fleece and coarse animal wool – 10%, optical instruments and devices – 8%.
The Kirov oblast's trade turnover from the trade with foreign countries is around 80% of overall foreign-trade turnover. The trade balance is positive and there is a trend to its annual growth, the export share is 85 -90%.

The import – equipment and mechanical devices – 30%, salt, sulfur, stone, finishing building materials – 11%, machinery - 11%, plastics - 9%, raw skins and leather - 7%, copper and goods made of it – 6%, vehicles – 4%, rubber and rubber resin goods – 3%, edible fruits, nuts – 3%.
