The Kirov oblast's construction complex includes 710 companies of varying ownership types. There are 654 construction companies; 56 developer companies and developer-surveyer companies.

Due to a significant growth of construction on the oblast's territory the building materials manufacturing industry is rapidly developing. The region possesses adequate mineral resources suitable to be used as building materials: sands suitable for lime-sand brick manufacture, carbonates to quarry for gravel and rock, haydite clayс clays to produce haydite.

The principle products by the building-materials manufacturing companies are building bricks, wall blocks and panels, prefabricated reinforced concrete elements; as well as the non-metallic building materials: gravel, gravel chippings, sand, sand-and-gravel mix.
